🛡 Advanced data protection for iOS and macOS For increased data protection, we recommend activating the Advanced Data Protection feature. Advanced Data Protection for iCloud is an optional setting that provides a high level of protection for cloud data. When you enable advanced protection, access to the encryption keys for most of that user's iCloud data remains restricted to the user's trusted devices, with the data protected by end-to-end encryption. If the protection is OFF: 14 data categories are protected by end-to-end encryption If the protection is ON: 23 data categories are protected by end-to-end encryption, including iCloud backups, Photos*, Notes, and more. *Especially relevant for those who keep their seed phrase in notes or on a screenshot. Once this is done, Apple can no longer access any data protected by the user's service keys. How do I enable advanced protection? 🟠iPhone & iPad: Settings > iCloud > Advanced data protection > Enable > Follow instructions > Save key 🟠Macbook: Apple Menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Advanced Data Protection > Enable > Follow the instructions > Save Key Important: keep the key in a safe place! With end-to-end encrypted backups, only you are the sender and the recipient of the data, and only you have access to the key to decrypt it. If someone has accessed your Apple ID but doesn't know the encryption key, they can't steal the data. #security
